A present day photo of Dr. LeRoy Carson

DR. LEROY CARSON

This is a tribute to our Founder

... and a great man.

Dr. LeRoy ... A Living Legacy

Over the last 50 years, Dr. LeRoy Carson has made a huge difference in thousands of people's lives, not just his patients, but to people of all ages in the communities he has served.

He is loved by his staff and his sons: Derek and Tyrel. As the founding partner of Carson & Acasio, Derek carries on the family traditions and values with Dr. Michael Acasio.

Dr. LeRoy and his loving wife, Beverly

Dr. LeRoy was a guiding light, but he did it with the support of his loving wife, who he met while an undergraduate at UCLA.

Beverly was his office manager, and worked for decades behind and in front of the scenes, supporting her husband and taking care of patients.

When Derek was in college at Arizona State University, he had no idea where his career was going. Dad hoped he would become a dentist, but wanted him to follow his own path. Quite by accident in 1995, LeRoy asked Derek to come along for his training in Sleep Sedation. Without prodding, it was at that moment when Derek made the decision to go into dentistry.

In the 70's, Dr. LeRoy was practicing dentistry with a partner in an office directly across the street from our current building on Deodar Ave. A determined and self-made man, he wanted his own practice with a large and modern building. So he purchased 126 Deodar in 1980.

LeRoy has always been a leader and a good role model for his sons. He attended UCLA, received a Cum Laude scholarship, and was top in his class in his first year in dental school. During the Viet Nam war, he was a Captain in the Air Force and served as a dentist for two years in Biloxi, Mississippi, and Victorville, California.

While building his two dental practices … Carson & Carson Dentistry in Oxnard and Spanish Hills Dentistry in Camarillo … he also found/made time to coach football, basketball and baseball in youth programs in Camarillo and Oxnard.

Son, Derek, is quick to give his dad credit for mentoring him and providing him with the tools, skills and experience necessary to be a top-of-the-line dentist. “I am a much better dentist because of my dad. He and I tackled the most difficult dental problems, like implants, surgeries, root canals and fear. We’ve always been a caring, family dental practice.

He was an extremely hard worker, strived to keep patients happy, is overly friendly (likes to talk a lot), is smart like an engineer, has a great sense of community, wanted our practice to have the best technology available for our patients, and is kind and caring.

He’s a good dad and was a good boss … he treated his staff like family.”

After 53 years, thanks to Dr. LeRoy Carson, who is in the twilight of his career, the Carson family legacy lives on.
